I was watching this anime nd it says if you want to create something you have to give something of equal value.. . Nd it got me thinking..  that's what we do in magick isn't it?

Well...actually, in order to perform magick, in order to have the effect, you need to offer the energy needed. If you understand what I am saying. But not to sucrifice anything, no.

I'm assuming the anime you're talking about is FullMetal Alchemist. As entertaining as it is, you shouldn't take most of what they say about alchemy as fact. But equivalent exchange is not a definition for alchemy. It could be true depending on what you think. It could be true for what you had to go through to get the ingredients. Or how rare the ingredients are for your work. A better definition of alchemy would be "the acceleration of nature" (Book of Aquarius) which sounds like a fine damn definition to me. I'd rather not go into how magic works because I hardly understand it and I don't want anyone using a "k" at the end to explain it to me.
I hope this doesn't really count as necroposting because I think I've contributed something important to this dead topic.
