Personally, I would think that a decagram would be the most powerful ...-agram >->
It's two pentagrams together, basically. That would speak the 'good' and 'bad' aspects of all five elements at the same time.
Put respective Gems or other elemental connotations at the points and you'd have one hell of a powerful design. What you could do with it, I haven't the foggiest. But hey.

Indeed. MAYBE YOU COULD LEVITATE A SOMETHING! IF I had gems, I'd try it, but I don't...lets see how the decagram works...

A better representation would be this: Here, you can clearly see how it is a star and an upside-down star. A 'good' pentagram and an 'evil' pentagram together. By putting the elements in the opposite slot on the black star in that image, you'd have a dichotomy of Fire, Air, Water, Earth, and Ether. Soo... yeah >_> Maybe...

Okay, srsly... How in the hell would we go about testing the double pentagram? Could use 5 candles with light and dark colors. Or place them on black or white trays or something.
Could use the Gems, but that would require a deal of research. I don't even know what stones would be associated with spirit/ether.

Find the stones that would have some sort of relation to the decagram. You need 10 of them

Well I doubt decagrams have any precedence in magic.
What I mean is finding stones pertaining to all 5 elements. That would require research. You'd need 2 of each. And depending on the size of your circle, the stones could be very cheap or ridiculously expensive. (pebbles or fist sized geodes.)

Hell I don't even know what half the ones I have are anymore. And most of them are pretty damn small. Biggest I have can still fit in your palm, so.
